The London to Croydon Railway

Thursday 22 February 2024 7.30pm

Talk: From inception to operation. John Prideaux will be sharing his research from original 1830s documents held at both the National and Parliamentary Archives. The talk will concentrate on the railway, up to its opening in 1839, but will be supplemented by subsequent items of local interest. He will reveal the real story behind Anerley and Penge West stations being located so close to each other. It should be of particular historical interest for regular users of the line between local stations and London Bridge via Forest Hill.
